A Healthy Wellness Opportunity Through the Inner Relationship

For the last week of a global effort to raise awareness about multiple sclerosis I chose the powerful wellness tool of the inner relationship. There is a part of humans that can not be fully shared with others. No one else is subjected to one’s own, constant thoughts. Humans are given opportunity to share a personal experience but often must choose to spend time wisely by omitting some details and highlighting others.

The inner experience or relationship is one no one else can fully see, especially if it’s misrepresented. The owner may be aware of the healthy or unhealthy attitude they have towards the self or they may go about life never exploring wellness improvements. There is a great, wellness opportunity in slowing down to listen to what you want, love, and need to support yourself.

When I returned from serving a deployment in Iraq I felt tormented by my own thoughts. I was speaking to myself in unhealthy, somewhat cruel, ways yet put everyone else’s needs before mine. I knew I was being unfair to myself. It was one thing to be aware of it, and another to find the breaking point to set a new, healthy paradigm for myself.

I sought advice from a well-rounded group of professionals, and eventually had some healthy breakthroughs. I know the breakthroughs are not over, meaning I have a lot more room to make wellness improvements still. It’s a missed wellness opportunity when you fail to recognize even the smallest of healthy improvements.

It is something to be grateful about when you do notice a change within yourself because your behavior aligns with your true values.

OR

Noticing you are being a little kinder to yourself because you started qigong.

OR

Feeling a little more confident and at peace with yourself because of a daily meditation.

OR

Sending yourself appreciative acknowledgment that you shut that low self-esteem bullsh*t down. I am sure most may imagine how this could positively effect overall wellbeing, recovery, and happiness.
