Using Spirituality as a Guide.

Spirit-crushing pain, suffering, and limitations of post traumatic stress disorder, multiple sclerosis, and depression with physical disability led me to spirituality. There are many perspectives on how to define spirituality. Some believe it's linked to church and religion and some do not.
Spirituality is the concept of the interconnectedness of all material and immaterial. Everything and nothing all at once.

Spirituality can act as thread. It can provide an environment that breads happiness, wholeness, and wellness. It can open you to the greater sources of guidance, creativity, and love. It can be the foundation of everything- A silver lining threaded thoroughly through all areas of life. Knowing this you can trust yourself to make your dreams come true despite being unaware how. Allow yourself to experience all of it.

For the purpose of this blog, the source of your personal spirituality is whatever you believe it is. For example, if your spirituality is explained best as God, accept and go with that. If the Universe encompasses all there is and ever will be then that is what you channel for your spirituality. Spirituality is a guiding, inner source of power for wellness, purpose, and abundance. It can be a spiritual presence like an angel, Jesus, or even an ancestor known or unknown. It it a source of unconditional love.

When I demobilized from Iraq and felt invincible, a super woman power. I evaded motors, missiles, and improvised explosive devices(IEDs) daily. I felt pretty damn bad ass surviving and being home. Once the adrenaline wore off the multiple sclerosis symptoms, anger, and pain began. I quickly realized I am broken, not super woman! Furthermore, I had two herniated disks in my low back, foot surgery, and the worst pain in the world from a leak from the spinal tap. This was a point I faced the fact I wasn't going anywhere. I needed to chill big time or I would be going nowhere for good (wheelchair). This down time gave me the space to discover spirituality. It paid off big time. It replaced my feeling of being broken with purpose and recovery.
