Simple Qigong That Changed My Life.

The purpose of this Qigong is to just allow yourself to feel relaxed and happy, to allow yourself to feel safe and loved. Practicing qigong helped me look passed my disability or limitations. It helped me look passed the pain, and trauma to stay focused on what I really want to feel. Happy and healthy. I am hopeful everyone feels happy and healthy, which is why I am sharing it.
A reminder Qigong is a type of exercise that calms the mind and body down. It is a complementary and alternative medicine practice and a natural stress relief technique. It uses mindfulness and breathing exercises with low intensity stretching. I like to explain it as getting a massage, going to counseling and physical therapy all at once! Qigong changed my life. Today I am going to show you the “moving meditation” that got me hooked, and helped me feel happy and calm.
I was trained as a combat military police, and deployed to Iraq to serve my country. Iraq was a hostile area, and our own squads were being systematically targeted by the enemy. When I returned home I became diagnosed with Acute Stress Disorder, which turned into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (anxiety and mood disorder), coupled with Multiple Sclerosis, which is a chronic illness.
I searched for help to find myself again because I felt like I was broken and damaged. I felt like life wasn’t working with me; I couldn’t make decisions anymore, I was angry which led to disagreements, and more unhappiness. I couldn't enjoy the things I previously did because of the disability, and I felt anxiety of how to take care of myself anymore. I was a wreck!
How was I going to turn my life around? That is when Qigong entered my life, and I did this exercise in 2011 while hospitalized from a MS flare up. Now, in 2019, I have experienced recovery, coping well, and my doctors view Qigong positively.
Try for yourself
You may do seated or standing(use correct posture and shoulders down). See Video Here.
Float the hands up in front of you with your inhale. Then, float the hands down in front of you with your exhale.
That is it.
Learn it, then close your eyes, and listen to the messages from your mind and body as you practice.
Repeat.
Regulate your movement and breath with your intention to feel relaxed, happy, safe, and loved.
Practice for 3 minutes to start, and feel a wave of relaxation through the body. Maybe you just feel calm. There is no right or wrong feeling. Just allow yourself to feel relaxed and happy. Allow yourself to feel safe and loved. Practicing qigong helped me look passed my disability or limitations. It helped me look passed the pain, and trauma to stay focused on what I really want to feel. Happy and healthy. That is my hope for you.
